Read this recent CNN article. Consent is really about teaching a child what healthy boundaries feel like and that they have a choice in matters relating to their bodies and their minds. Consent is necessary in healthy relationships.

“We don't have to know all of the ins and outs of every app that's out there on the internet. And we don't have to know exactly how Snapchat works or exactly how Tik Tok works or any of the, you know, in order to have really productive conversations with our kids about the way that they're conducting themselves online, the way that they're responding to others, the way that they are You know, the safety decisions that they're making.

We can still engage in all those conversations, even when we don't know the nitty-gritty details of some of these you know, apps which are changing on a daily basis, right? Just as soon as you learn one, your kid will be onto the next one. And while there are certainly safety decisions to be made about which apps they use and which they don't.”
